Movements XX: The Matrix Reloaded

As I have said in my last post, I am going through certain things right now that is giving me a chance to totally reevaluate my life. During that process, I will be posting less consistently than before. This is not because I'm giving up on my blog. On the contrary, I'm going to fully revamp this blog to be the success that it needs to be.

In the process, I am totally revamping myself as well.

I have to get a lot of things in order. My finances, my relationships, my health (mental and spiritual), and my career. It's not that things aren't going well, certain situations in my life that I cannot control have forced me to shift into survival mode. Thankfully, various modalities of Holistic Healing have enabled me to weather this change with a good "umbrella" and a positive mind. :)

I have two blogs. This one and Healthy Junk. I'm going to make a lot of changes to these blogs. Also have a "Fight dis-ease!" blog on Wordpress. I put up a poll on the sidebar to my left. Even though I only received one vote, I got a lot of feedback that has helped me to make certain decisions.

Unfortunately for you, I'm not going to speak on these decisions now. The only reason for this is that I want to make sure that I follow through with these decisions instead of telling you I'm going to do something and then falling back on it.

You will find that as I progress (or regress) with my blog, so is the same with my life. This blog is a reflection of my growth as well as your journey of personal growth.

It is high time that I claim my worth and value it to the fullest - in life, through my blogs.

So it is written, so shall it be done.

Don't worry. I'll still post. However it will be slow, as I have said before. Not only will the template change (as I have already planned to do with the seasons) but the content and many other things will change with this blog. I hope you stick around long enough to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Please feel free to provide any feedback.

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

There is so much going on with me (as usual). I have made some really good connections and my Yoga teaching is growing strong. I spent a lot of time this week fixing issues on this blog as well as updating my other blog (did I tell you about it? (heu)) If I didn't mention it yet, the name of my new blog is "Healthy Junk" and it's a lot of fun because it's my ego unleashed.

So if you're ready for all that my ego is about (an angry, complaining, cussing sassy girl), then get yourself on over to Healthy Junk! Please provide feedback on whether you like the site (or not) and what I can do to improve things over there. Even though my ego doesn't give a damn, I still do! My spirit (and ego) wants to give you the best health information to keep you physically, mentally, and spiritually fit - regardless of how it's wrapped up! ;)

My Yoga classes are going well. 13 people were in my first course class and I'm very excited about teaching a regular class on Sunday. :D Look for my last Movements post for all that information.

At the bottom of my blog, I have a section for donations. It took a while for me to decide to do this but I need help until I setup my services for Health Counseling and Yoga. I know you're wondering why didn't I just put up the services and that leads to my next "quandry."

I mentioned before about wanting to move from Blogger to somewhere else. Back then, Blogger was giving me issues so, in frustration, I wanted to make a change. Now, it's different. I want to broaden my horizons. I want to do more. If I'm going to put up my services, I might as well do it on a website and not on something so...limiting (it seems) as Blogger, right? And this is not about bashing Blogger. For the longest time, this platform has provided me with a way to connect to you and your health and wellness.

The downside to a website is the following questions come into play:
  • does it make sense?
  • do I have enough information to put into a website?
  • do I have enough time?
  • am I afraid of success or failure?
  • do I have the money to pay for hosting?
  • who's going to create my logo, etc. and what do I do if I don't have enough money for them?
So I'm asking all of you for some feedback. I wish I could put a poll within this post but I don't think I can (and if I can, let me know how). So in my sidebar, I'm going to put up a poll so that you can help me make my decision. Even if I do choose to create a website (or at least move this blog to a platform that provides more like Wordpress or Typepad), it's going to take a lot of time for me to move things and recreate things and find another theme that I like (I know...I'm such a girly girl!)

If you notice, you may have the same kind of questions in regards to reaching and maintaining wellness. :D

So if you can, please donate. I don't care about the amount. My editor/copywriter is very understand and loving but she can't live on love alone. I got to pay her. So until I figure this thing out, please help me out in whatever way you can - feedback is great, donations are better.

So what is your homework for today? ;) You are to do the following things:
  1. Check out my Healthy Junk blog and let me know what you think.
  2. Check out my poll and provide feedback
  3. Donate to me.
And thank you bklynyogini (follow her on twitter) for the beautiful spring pic. Springtime is coming and I have a lot to do and plan for! I'm definitely going to keep you updated on all of it.

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements XVI: Things are looking uP!

It's been a while since I really posted something up of substance. Now that the filler has been placed, it's time for me to get off of my self-imposed vacation and get back to giving you the latest and greatest information that will enable you to see and be better health!

First, I hope you like the pic. Kyla Jolene is a great photographer and I have been watching her work from afar. I wanted to put her photos on my blog for sometime and I'm glad I finally am able to do so. If I don't put up more of Kyla's pics, it's only because she asked me not to. I don't know her personally but good work is good work and it can't be denied.

I have updated one of my blogs. Please click here for the latest information on herbs that will help you in dealing with Uterine Fibroids. Please note that hops is a good herb to use for Breast Cancer as well.

My Yoga schedule is back in full swing! First up...I'm going to teach a 4 week course called the Fundamentals of Hatha Yoga. If you're in NYC and would like to learn the basics of Hatha Yoga and an Integral Yoga Hatha I Beginner's class, then this course is for you. For more information and to register, please click here.

I'm also going to teach a Hatha I Beginners Class every other Sunday at 6:15pm, starting March 15. If you click on the link above, you'll also find more information on Integral Yoga.

That's it for now. Please provide feedback by posting a comment or by emailing me at drea@dorightforyourself.org

One more thing, I have been doing this blog for a long time. What started out as a homework assignment for the Institute for Integrative Nutrition has become something much more. I need to stop acting like I'm not an accomplished Holistic Health and Nutritional Consultant and Yoga Instructor. Sooner than later, I'm going to put up links and give more information for my consultations and packages. Spring time is coming. I can provide you with the best in nutrition, fitness, and over all wellness. Now it's really time to get it together. All of us.

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease! (and thank you so much for keeping up with me and your health and wellness)

Movements XV: Where I have REALLY been!

Hello everyone!

As you can see, I have been very busy with this blog!! My blogrolls are now on a separate page! At the linkbar, click "Do Right Blogroll" and go to town! I have to thank MommyDoodles for providing the insight for this to happen. Now I can give you more or what you're looking for - the path to health and happiness - without me having to worry about how many blogs I can fill a page with! No more distractions!

Ok...so, where to begin...ah yes, with my regularly scheduled routine!

Went to both jobs on Thursday & Friday. Both days were an arduous task because I had to get juices for LT46's next phase of our Legacy Project. I had to go to both jobs and then lug @ least 4 huge bottles home! Gotta love NYC...cabs are everywhere and for some reason, the fares were pretty decent (considering).

I know all of my new viewers are wondering, "what is LT46? Legacy Project? What's that?"
I created a post in Oct 2008 explaining the Legacy Project that I share with my Leadership Team from Momentum Education, LT46. Click here for that post. Now we have gone into "Phase IIa," by showing a movie at the shelter we raised money for. Here is a picture of the flyer that was put up at the Shelter:

It was a great event! About 70 people - men, women and children - attended. They all enjoyed the movie as well as the pizza and beverages we provided. I got the beverages, which consisted of  apple juice, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, and pear juices and water- all organic, of course.  I got 3 large apple juices, 7 bottles of the other juices and 3 one gallon bottles of water. I made a conscious choice to buy these kinds of juices to see if there would be a difference to their behavior (in comparison to drinking soda or juices with a lot of processed sugar in it). I am very happy to say that the crowd was very plesant and patient and kind. Even the children were relatively calm (I loved to hear the children give ask their parents where the juice came from!) and there were moments of virtual silence during certain parts of the movie. I'm not going to attribute all of this to drinking organic but I KNOW that if I had offered soda, it would have been a madhouse at that Shelter.

What made the event even more special was twofold. First, Liz Murray came to speak to the guests and I'm sure it was great (unfortunately, I had to go to work so I had to leave early). I know Liz personally and she's an amazing lady. If you would like to meet her for yourself, check this out:

Liz Murray: Homeless to Harvard

The other thing that made the event amazing was seeing my family. You see, my brother and his family live in a shelter. It was an amazing coinky dink that the shelter LT46 chose to support was the same shelter that my brother and his family are in! I got to see my neices and nephew and it was so great! Right before I left, I explained to one of my friends that my brother and his family will have to stay in the shelther a little longer due to unforseen circumstances. Well, I must say that today, my sister-in-law had a healthy baby boy and right after I spoke to my friend, I called my brother and he said they would be out of the shelter very soon!!

The next day, I taught two Yoga classes - one private and one at IYI. On Monday, I taught another Yoga class.

Before this weekend, I wrote up a post on the Uterus Diaglogues on Yoga and Fibroids. It was a general post and I will write something more specific really soon. If you would like to read my post, please click here. If you are affected by Uterine Fibroids and Ovarian Cysts, I ask that you become a member of this site and share their experiences, past, present and future. Sharing is caring. My friend and fellow IIN graduate, Simone Turner is also a part of this network. She is a Holistic Health Counselor that also specializes in Women's Issues, more specifically fibroids. Tell her that "Drea from IIN" sent you!

Well, that's it...for not. I have a lot of catching up to you and I must admit, I'm becoming addicted to twitter. Hello My Twitter Friends!!

Enjoy your night. Until the next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements XIV: Where I have been

These past couple of days have been really busy for me. I am able to twitter and I've been working on updating the site. Unfortunately, when most of us take 2 steps forward, it seems like we're actually going two steps back! My focus has been on fixing technical issues so that I can streamline my blog as well as deal with everyday life.

You can rest assured that I will be back very soon with some updated posts. I am going to teach a Yoga class at 7:45pm and I need to prepare for it. Now that I am putting this out, I can feel better about this aspect of my responsibilities and focus on teaching this class.

I'll talk to you very soon. In the meantime,

stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Greetings everyone!

I hope you enjoyed the Super Bowl. I, myself, did not get to see it. I taught my first "official" class at Integral Yoga and it was great. I would like to thank all of those who attended my class and I'm glad you enjoyed it.

My next class is on Feb. 15th. That is on a Sunday, at Integral Yoga Institute. The cost for the class is $12 and it's a Hatha I Beginner's class. If you stop by, mention that you saw this on my blog. I'd really appreciate it.

Another thing I have done is update one of my old blogs. My Essential 4 Series: Bad Posture can be a Headache is one of my most popular blogs. I have updated it with some new information that you may find useful. Click on the link to access that post.

I plan on doing this with other previous posts with time. I'm still working on putting some other posts up that are way past due. I'm not going to speak on them now. I'm just going to put them out there and get it done.

As I get my schedule together, you will hear from me and then you may not. Regardless of my state of affairs, I trust that I can always count on you to...

stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements XI: Quick Updates

  1. I'm going to start scheduling my Yoga classes soon. I'm going to teach at the Integral Yoga Institute as a sub (for now) and then I'm going to have classes in Brooklyn and in the Bronx, alternatively. More information to come.
  2. I'm also going to update a couple of my old posts with newer information. I'll let you know when that happens and give you the links when they are completed.
  3. I'm going to update as much as I can. It will mainly be Random Thoughts, Movements, and Karma Yogi posts until I get my schedule fully in tact. I'm also going to update my website with the latest information. If you would like to take a look at my website now, please click on the "Do Right Website" link at the right side of the header.
  4. I'm going to setup a page on Facebook. This is going to take time and will not be a top priority at the moment. I'm just putting it out into the universe so that I can get it started (and hopefully, you can keep me to it).
That's it for now. There are times when we all need to be short but sweet. I'm about 5'4" so I think I fulfill the first requirement pretty well.  I'm still working on the other one.

Stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements X: Happy Birthday to me!

Hello Friends, Family, and Countrymen!!

Today is my 34th Birthday! I feel so great and healthy and amazed with the universe. I became a Certified Yoga Teacher on Saturday.
So what else is new?

I still have my lecture on Yoga going on at the Gay Men's Health Crisis (weather permitting). I'm on vacation from my jobs this week to celebrate my birthday. OOH! I also got invited to teach at the Integral Yoga Institute! I'm so happy about that. Why? Even though I will be subbing for a while, it will be a great way for me to get more experience so that I can move out into the world.

Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely going to have my own classes. But now, knowing that I will have a place to teach, I can properly get my schedule together so that I can better serve those who need Yoga and Health - YOU!

The blog will definitely continue as planned. I'm going to take a break for my birthday but there will be more new and exciting posts from me before the week is out.

I'm so happy that you're able to share my birthday with me. I'm thankful that you have another day to appreciate life, love and the liberties that you have right now.

Freedom is a state of mind. Let's get free this year. Starting today.

Until next time....
stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements IX: 2009 is Mine!

Well hello there!

I just wanted to tell you all really quickly that my qualifying was a smash and I graduate from Yoga Teacher Training on Saturday. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures and put them on my facebook page.

I'm still doing the lecture on Yoga at the Gay Men's Health Crisis in New York City. Details will be posted tomorrow, since it is on Jan. 16. Everything is being finalized now.

I'm just so excited about what is to come for me. Clients are forming, even in this downturn economy...and I'm talking about Health/Fitness Counseling clients! Yoga classes will come very soon - private and group classes.

I also have a bunch of ideas in my head (besides my book and other posts... LOL) that I'm going to start working on. These are past ideas as well as new ones that need to come to fruition. I didn't plan on working on them so soon but I'm ready to do something to serve my community. The human community.

I love being human. Sometimes I don't like people. But that's ok too. It's balance. ;)

2009 is MINE! It is MY Time to SHINE!

Say that in the mirror once a day...if there is any positive affirmation to put into your brain, it is this one. No matter what they say about the economy, or the state of the world as it is, we are change. Each one of us can make a difference. Each one, teach one, reach one.

Stay mindful and aware. Keep your intentions positive and full of love. Talk to you soon...and my birthday is on Jan. 13. I feel and look like a 25 year old. Thank goodness I don't think like one (luv you 25 year olds...you'll understand what I'm saying when you reach 30!)

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements VIII

Greetings Everyone!:)

I always have a lot going on (as you can see in my other Movements posts) but a lot of them have not come to fruition as I have expected. So I decided that I would keep the Movements post to a minimum - I don't want to give out plans that may have fallen through, on my account or due to changes beyond my control.

With that in mind, it's time for me to give you some of my movements and these things are going on or will happen right now:
  • Yoga Teacher Training is almost over. I graduate on Jan. 10 and my qualifying is on Jan. 5. I just finished my written final and right now my biggest challenge will be on Sunday, getting Yoga Nidra and Pranayama right.
  • On Jan. 16, I will be doing a lecture on "The Science of Yoga." This will be held at GMHC (Gay Men's Health Crisis), in New York City, and is sponsored by Circle of Voices, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides multi-cultural, artistic, and informative events for women of color and African Descent. This "Do Better, Live Better" series is geared towards Lesbian and Bi-sexual Women of Color but all are welcome. More details to come shortly
Well, that's about it folks...so far, so good. I still have a lot of things to catch up on regarding this blog (like the last part of this Breathing Series...I'm ready to talk about Water! ) as well as cleaning more of my house but everything will occur in due time. I'm going to let "Divine Consciousness" take my hand and lead me where I should be at this point in time. I hope you do the same, every once in a while.

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy and fight dis-ease!

Movements VII: Time for a Change

A number of things have occurred since I last posted on this blog.

  • A friend of mine died of brain cancer.
  • A couple of friends of mine are going through a really tough time.
  • As I am progressing in Yoga Teacher Training, I still feel like I am not making enough of an effort.
  • As I go through the process of my busy life, a lot of things are still being neglected, this blog being one of them.

America has already shifted by voting for Barack Obama to be their new President - the 44th President, the first biracial (yeah, black) President. It's time for me to shift once more and make a transformation.

So I'm going to start with this blog (once again). But this time, it's not about the look of the blog. I'm going to start posting more often. Shorter tidbits and include other topics. I had a schedule of things I wanted to talk about before the end of the year and I'm not even half way through with that schedule as yet. There are other topics that emerge that are just as important to discuss but since I wanted to be on a rigid schedule, I didn't deliver in my promise to keep you strong, healthy, and fighting dis-ease.

This does not mean that I'm not going to keep up with my schedule. I will. I will go along as planned. However, I won't be afraid to include something else in the meantime.

I have found a new editor and I can't wait to work with her. I just gotta get the ball rolling.

As I go through Yoga Teacher Training, I have been on a "no chicken" elimination fast. It has been almost 3 weeks. Sadness is wanting me to get some chicken but something else inside is holding me back. I think it's this "calm" feeling all my friends have been seeing. This "calm" is slowing me down and helping me to curb my craving. I still need to get on the ball with chocolate (dark, no longer milk...I'm definitely making progress) but I'm making breakthroughs in that as well....more on the later! (I can't get off topic...HAH )

I'm going to expand on the Random Thoughts part of this blog to accommodate the shorter posts.

I also want to include a new part of the blog called Karma Yogi. This part of the blog will talk about charities and good causes for you to volunteer for or donate to as well as fund raising events that are legitimate and local. This will be in a weekly format. If there is enough support for this part of the blog, I will expand on it to submissions from people outside of my circle of family and friends.

There is something that I have shunned away from doing on this blog - that is, recommending products. I wanted to shy away from being a "snake oil salesman." I'm happy that Google Ads have found a place for the alternative health and wellness industry but I working in the Apothecary has really increased my awareness for body and mind care. I will start speaking from this frame of mind...more so than before. This means that I will include specific products to further explain my blogs. This way, you can get out there and take care of yourself immediately and not wait for me to put out the next thing...which would be months at a time (I'm so sorry!)

Yoga talk will always be included. Right now, with Yoga Teacher Training, I neither have the time nor the money to venture into other realms of alternative medicine for myself. Don't worry, I will continue to include articles from great sources that will provide you with the necessary information needed to make informed decisions.

OK...now my talk is about over. I have to get in touch with my Mentor for YTT and I have to schedule my practice Yoga session with the rest of my homies. I need to get started to creating this workshop...in January, my leadership team, LT46, will start the 3rd part of our Legacy Project - doing a workshop once a month for the shelter we raised funds for. We have already completed redecorating the rooms and I aided in providing laptops from Lenovo.

There is so much more to talk about...but much better to be said in consistent pieces, with effort and for a long time.

In the meantime, Barack says:

Movements VI

It's been a while, hasn't it? :( (ooh wee...I haven't been on here in so long that I just realized that Blogger now has it's own set of smileys - or that can just be from my Firefox plug-in. LOL either way, I'm a happy girl :))

It's been 3 months since I did my last draft...on meditation, that still has not been put up yet. I want to thank you for putting up with...what's left of me!

I haven't neglected you and this blog because I am busy (even though I am). I have neglected you and this blog because I am scared. Right now, I'm scared of what the future holds. This is not a negative fear. This is more along the lines of positive terrifying excitement...

There has been no Yoga in the Parks as of late but the weather is still nice and I'm making time to "make time." I am in Yoga Teacher Training right now, which is the most exciting thing for me, as of late.

Another exciting thing I'm dealing with is this fundraiser I'm doing with my Leadership Team. I am proud of be a part of this project to create an "Empowerment Center" in a Domestic Violence Shelter in Brooklyn. Our After Work Benefit is on Oct. 17 (hey better late than never) and for more information (or to donate or buy a raffle ticket) please go to www.LT46for WIN.org

Because I have found the courage to put this blog up, I'm going to do my best to put up that blog on Meditation and continue with my year schedule. This meditation blog is highly important because since going to YTT (at Integral Yoga), I have become more of a fan of meditation.

I am also in the process of changing up my blog - templates, widgets, all that. That also takes a while. Moving things around, prioritizing, and actually getting things done makes me hunger for dark chocolate. ;) I'm still praying that these smileys stay in my blog and I don't have to do the cut/paste thing anymore.

Happy times, happy times!! Your girl is back and smarter than ever!
Can't wait for you to

stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements V...it's never too late

Yes folks. I'm back again. I have thought about you and my blog everyday, however, thinking isn't the same as DOING! So without further "to do" (you know I gotta put my own spin on words)...here it is:
I hope it's big enough for you to see...I'm doing another Yoga in the Park!! This time, it will be in Brooklyn and there is a $10 suggested donation.

I have so much going on (this is not an excuse, merely a fact) and I have to prioritize. Between this blog, my book, my job(s), my mom, volunteer work, and cleaning my house...well, you get the idea. The blackberry is not enough. I need the Jesus phone to be able to keep up (or at least a long vacation). The vacation won't happen anytime soon (I'm working on that too) but I have been meditating and it helps a lot. You like the segue, don't you?

I went to Summer Spa Day at Integral Yoga yesterday. It was a fantastic event. I did 90 minutes of Yoga, 20 minutes of Meditation, had a great vegetarian lunch, got a facial/body scrub, did some Qi Gong, Reiki, Thai Yoga Massage, and enjoyed a lecture by Dr. Naina Marballi on Ayurveda Beauty and Wellness. It was truly amazing to share and celebrate our "Sacred Feminine Aspect." The rain didn't dampen our spirits...it actually made us more aware and alive because we knew that it washes away the past and the dirt to make way for the new and the present to shine.

It's just too damn bad that my hips are super sore!
I need to work on my right hip more (making it open up) but it's my left hip that is the sorest! It's weird but interesting because it shows me how one side will work to compensate for the other. The left hip is taking all of the soreness for the right hip. I did a lot of work on my right hip yesterday!

Another good thing about yesterday was when I was doing Yoga. Sumatri is the name of our instructor and guide for yesterday's events. She is an amazing teacher. We had a multi-level class and I loved the way she was able to take the simplest poses and "build up" in complexity so even first timers had confidence to do more than they thought they could do.

Now most of you know that I only have time to do Yoga at home (right now). 5 minutes of Sun Salutations and I'm a happy camper! If I can get in a pigeon pose and savasana (corpse pose), then I'm golden. This is no more than 10 minutes, tops. Being that this was my first "class" in months, I decided to try to take the mediocre route. If I could advance in a pose, I would. If I didn't think I could, then I wouldn't.

Sumatri wasn't trying to hear any of that. "Why don't you try it this way?," she would ask me. My mind would say, "hell to the no lady! This is supposed to be an easy day!" but my breath would lead my body to do the poses with ease. I was amazed...at myself and the class. As I would do a pose, the person next to me would follow my lead. The person on the other side of me would get a little bit bolder in doing the pose. The person across from me would smile and continue to focus on her breath. It was as if I was inspiring them and they were inspiring me and this energy was building up throughout the day. The energy built up but didn't burst. It bloomed and blossomed, like a lotus flower. Did you know I love lotus flowers?

Lotus flower

Oh yeah...I forgot one thing to add to my to-do list...RUNNING! I said that by 9/7, I'll be able to run 5K in under 30 minutes. I haven't started practicing yet. But all of that will change as of next week. Today is the first day (of that time...yeah, it's really 'Sacred Feminine' time ) so I'm going to take a break. However, I am going to make it a point to run at least twice a week so I can get my time down. Right now, I run 5K in 34 minutes and I haven't ran in a month.

One more thing...I finished the Master Cleanser a couple of days ago. I lost 8lbs and in 5 days, have only gained back 3lbs. It's tough to gain weight when you don't have time to exercise (yeah my metabolism/weight is funny like that) and your stomach seems to have shrunken because you only took in liquids for 10 days! LOL In the end, I made a lot of silly mistakes that I didn't need to make. I can't be upset though...it will only serve to help you when my book comes out. I don't want you to make the same dipsh*t mistakes I did!

OK, that's it for now. I'm tired of talking about me, me, me and nothing about breathe, breath, breathing! Mediation anyone?

Let me babble on some more before letting you go:

when there is something I need to do that is very important, I have this tendency to avoid it until the last second. This is not a good thing. I need to act with urgency and not desperation. Most human beings are living in "fright or flight" mode (more on this at another time)...with that comes desperation. Everything is in a hurry...not an urgency - knowing that you need to do something soon but pacing yourself to make sure it happens at that time and not a second later but waiting until the last minute and then rushing to get something done half-assed. Don't look at me like I'm crazy. I know you do it too. Especially if you live in NYC? Oh yeah, that's you!

My friend that did my Reiki treatment yesterday (hey Louisya!) told me that my body screamed to her that I needed to rest. She wasn't lying. The Thai Yoga Massage lady said something similar to me, in regards to my right hip being so tight. "You're still holding on to something that the rest of you wants to let go...you need to get some rest so that this last bit of tightness can be finally released." In typical NYC fashion, I told them both to wait until after Sept. 7. Well sorry ladies, we're going to have to wait until Jan. 1. I start Yoga Teacher Training at Integral Yoga Institute on September 8.

Even though I have all this stuff to do, I will take their advice and relax for a couple of days. I'm in another period of transitition (did I mention I also need to clean my house? LMAO) so I think I can fit some relaxation in. I don't want to crash and burn out, like I have done in the past (I am a Pitta-Vata...I burn out easily) and I don't want you to either (regardless of what Ayurvedic constitution you are).

I'm going to meditate for a little bit and then face my fear and type up this blog on Meditation. I still have a schedule to keep and people who like to read....so until next time true believers (yeah Stan Lee...sue me later when I have $)...

stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements IV: Shameless Plugs

Here I am. Back in the saddle again.

Today in Movements, we go back to the Inner Beauty and Outer Wellness Blog (one of our favorite blogs, for real). They gave me honors for graduating from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I LOVE that support!! It's so great to see women, banding together and supporting one another so that we can build and grow. Everyday, I thank the Lord for Precise, the creator of the Inner Beauty and Outer Wellness blog, for giving me inspiration, insight, and support. I hope I provide the same for her. The best part about it is that she does all of this by example. You can tell a person to "get motivated" or "I'm going to support you." But to actually DO that...it's an amazing thing! It is a definite blessing to have the support of all the women in my life (especially Momma and Grandmas).

Big up to TaKeesha and Christa...definite inspirations and the keepers of light when mine shine starts to fade.
Also, I'd like to big up Dr. Christine Duncan. She is a GYN in Long Island and practices Integrative/Holistic Medicine. She has also become a keeper of my light and I appreciate sharing and learning from her.
(I thank you too Joy!)

I also have to give you an update. In a previous Movements, I mentioned Parashakti and becoming her apprentice. I have to say that this is not going to happen. I had to be responsible and take care of other aspects of my life before taking on such an arduous task. I don't think she's going anywhere, anytime soon...so when the time is right, I hope she's ready! LOL

Hmmm...let's see...anymore updates? Yes...the video that I was in my first Movements blog is now on YouTube! Here it is, on YouTube so that it's easier for you to access:

OK....I think that's it from the peanut gallery (for now). Until next time...
stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements III

Hey everyone!

Aren't you surprised that you're getting 2 blogs from me in the same week?! Those who follow this site know that it's a rare occasion when something like this happens.

Firsts things first:

Do you like the new look of the site? I do. Let me know what you think by commenting or shooting me an email. Hey, if you like the new look so much that you would like to subscribe to my page, feel free!

The other news is that I have been interviewed for another blog! The name of the blog is called "Win Now! Why Wait?" and it's about 3 women's journey to winning the battle of being healthy. These are amazing and inspiring women and I'm very honored that they asked me to be a part of their blog. If you would like to read it, please click here. They are also in my "Health Related Links" list.

Can you believe that I graduate from my school (The Institute for Integrative Nutrition) in less than 2 weeks?! It blows my mind every time I think about it. I have so much to do before this happens and I am so scared that this is a dream...I haven't graduated anything since High School (and trust me, that was a breeze). No matter how scared I may be, I am more than ready to do what I have to do to be a part of healing myself, you, and this planet.

Once I graduate from school, I'll do more Yoga in the Parks...next stop...Prospect Park in Brooklyn. Be on the lookout!

Oh! One more thing...have you ever heard of Parashakti? The word "Parashakti" literally means "cosmic power" in Sanskrit. In this instance, Parashakti is a woman with the most fantastic energy! She is a Shamanic healer who got her Yoga Teacher Training from Integral Yoga Institute (where I'm going in October). She leads an incredible Native American Trance Dance called the Dance of Liberation! I'm not going to explain what happens and how it works. I want you to go to one and experience it for yourself.

But SeeLaH, I'm not in the NYC area. How can I experience it?
Never fear, my curious reader. I'm going to put a link to her website in my "Yoga Connection" list of links, so you can be a true believer as well.

The reason why I'm mentioning this is because I am going to be one of her apprentices!! Whoo hoo!! I can't speak on it now...but it's all a part of a grand design to make the lives of many women (especially) great. I'm going to learn different methods of fasting as well as how to co-lead a Dance of Liberation! I can't wait...are you ready for me to take over the world yet? Well you better get ready! LOL

Well that's it for now, true believers. I don't mean to sound like Stan Lee but I guess I'm missing my comic books just a little bit. When my proofreader sees this post, she's going to kill me but don't worry...she will put the choke hold on me but she loves me way too much to apply any pressure.

Talk to you later!
and don't forget to stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!
