Happy Holidays!

I know I haven't been around for a while. I haven't forgot about my blogs nor you. It's not like I have neglected you, I just had to deal with real life for a bit. Some of it was bad but most of it was good.

Does it help if I explain to you what has been going wrong in my life? Nope. Why? Because every single one of us has issues. We all have things we have to face in life - some of it good and some of it bad (depending on your perception of things).

We ALL need to take our time this year. Take our time with making our decisions, setting boundaries, and living life to the fullest. We also need to take our time to savor the present moment. Only by living in the present moment can we be grateful for all the things in our life.

What does "living in the present moment" mean? For me, it means not to think about the past as well as not thinking about the future (projecting. It also means not to project or fantasize about the outcome you want. Let's say you meet a guy and you like him. Instead of thinking about your wedding day (and you haven't even gone out on a single date...this is projection at its worst), think about why you like this guy and how you can make him a part of your life NOW! That's the present moment!

This year, I'm going to make it a point to live in the present moment as much as I can. These blogs aren't going to write themselves and just keeping ideas in my head and not putting them on paper just makes no sense. I can't let my past affect me. I can't let my future (or possible future) affect me either. Most of all, I can't let my imagination or wishing for this or that affect me from doing what I need to do NOW.

If you are like me, then you need to make this change as soon as possible. Otherwise, everything you have strived to achieve will be for naught. It's almost 2010. This year should be about responsibility and accountability.

(With this said, I was going to do a blog on what I said I was going to do last year and if I did it or not. It's time I listen to myself and not look in the past...except when it comes to the topics I need to post on here. ;))

So have a Happy Holidays and let make this a New Year of change!

Blessed Love and until next time...
Stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease! :D

Movements XX: The Matrix Reloaded

As I have said in my last post, I am going through certain things right now that is giving me a chance to totally reevaluate my life. During that process, I will be posting less consistently than before. This is not because I'm giving up on my blog. On the contrary, I'm going to fully revamp this blog to be the success that it needs to be.

In the process, I am totally revamping myself as well.

I have to get a lot of things in order. My finances, my relationships, my health (mental and spiritual), and my career. It's not that things aren't going well, certain situations in my life that I cannot control have forced me to shift into survival mode. Thankfully, various modalities of Holistic Healing have enabled me to weather this change with a good "umbrella" and a positive mind. :)

I have two blogs. This one and Healthy Junk. I'm going to make a lot of changes to these blogs. Also have a "Fight dis-ease!" blog on Wordpress. I put up a poll on the sidebar to my left. Even though I only received one vote, I got a lot of feedback that has helped me to make certain decisions.

Unfortunately for you, I'm not going to speak on these decisions now. The only reason for this is that I want to make sure that I follow through with these decisions instead of telling you I'm going to do something and then falling back on it.

You will find that as I progress (or regress) with my blog, so is the same with my life. This blog is a reflection of my growth as well as your journey of personal growth.

It is high time that I claim my worth and value it to the fullest - in life, through my blogs.

So it is written, so shall it be done.

Don't worry. I'll still post. However it will be slow, as I have said before. Not only will the template change (as I have already planned to do with the seasons) but the content and many other things will change with this blog. I hope you stick around long enough to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Please feel free to provide any feedback.

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Movements IX: 2009 is Mine!

Well hello there!

I just wanted to tell you all really quickly that my qualifying was a smash and I graduate from Yoga Teacher Training on Saturday. I'll make sure to take lots of pictures and put them on my facebook page.

I'm still doing the lecture on Yoga at the Gay Men's Health Crisis in New York City. Details will be posted tomorrow, since it is on Jan. 16. Everything is being finalized now.

I'm just so excited about what is to come for me. Clients are forming, even in this downturn economy...and I'm talking about Health/Fitness Counseling clients! Yoga classes will come very soon - private and group classes.

I also have a bunch of ideas in my head (besides my book and other posts... LOL) that I'm going to start working on. These are past ideas as well as new ones that need to come to fruition. I didn't plan on working on them so soon but I'm ready to do something to serve my community. The human community.

I love being human. Sometimes I don't like people. But that's ok too. It's balance. ;)

2009 is MINE! It is MY Time to SHINE!

Say that in the mirror once a day...if there is any positive affirmation to put into your brain, it is this one. No matter what they say about the economy, or the state of the world as it is, we are change. Each one of us can make a difference. Each one, teach one, reach one.

Stay mindful and aware. Keep your intentions positive and full of love. Talk to you soon...and my birthday is on Jan. 13. I feel and look like a 25 year old. Thank goodness I don't think like one (luv you 25 year olds...you'll understand what I'm saying when you reach 30!)

Until next time...stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!

Random Thoughts V: It's time to WIN!

Boy in costume with winning rosette

Many people think of themselves as losers. There are days when I feel like a loser with a capital 'L.' I don't want to be bothered with anyone, not even myself. I just want to go under the covers and sleep for days. When I do tasks attempt to do tasks, they take forever or never get done at all.

There are times when I ask myself, "who or what made me feel like a loser today?" Maybe it was something I ate. It could be the man who stepped on my foot on the train and didn't say 'excuse me.' My boss could also be to blame, especially when he berates me on something I could have done better (or didn't do at all).

In the end, all of these external events lead to one factor: YOU!

I'm sure you heard many authors of books and blogs tell you about positive thinking or positive reinforcement. In Raja Yoga, this is called pratipasksha bhavana. I could sit here and tell you to replace negative thoughts with positive ones but it's really hard to do when you're in the eye of a drama storm and there seems to be no sunlight in sight.

So let's try this modification of positive thinking and tell me if it works for you. I think once you do this, you can never think of yourself as a loser:

Take solace and pride in small wins. You woke up this morning and got yourself to work? Congrats! You are a winner! You got on the train, someone stepped on your foot and you didn't yell nor scream? I don't see a loser. I see someone who won.

There are so many examples I can give in everyday life to think of yourself as a winner and pat yourself on the back for, it's not even funny.  Of course, you will still have issues and drama that you will have to face and will bring you down. However, if you keep up this attitude (which is really looking at the bright side of things), that down feeling won't last too long. Appreciating the little things will make great strides in helping you deal with the larger things that you can't control.

So the next time you try this and say, "well See, I'm still a loser because of this, that and the third," I would respond by saying "no. You're not a loser. You're a winner in a number of losing games."

Let me know if that makes you feel better. If it helps, add, "thank the Lord" to whatever little thing you're patting yourself on the back for. You may not thank me in the short term but if you do this for a long period of time, you'll be amazed at your outlook on many things - good, bad, and indifferent.

In the meantime, stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!
