Random Thoughts XI: Yoga Day USA

Tomorrow, Jan. 24, is Yoga Day USA. On this day, people of all ages and fitness levels join together to get to know the body, mind, and soul through the practice of Yoga.

Most classes and workshops that participate in Yoga Day are free. This is to fulfill their Karma Yoga or selfless service. Yoga Day USA came from the Yoga Alliance, which registers Yoga Teachers (among other things).

It just so happens that I will be doing Yoga tomorrow. It is for a workshop and I paid for it but that doesn't matter. I would be more than happy to pay for this class, especially since I'm so excited about it (it's about work and astrology).

Just remember that Yoga is more than Hatha Yoga (posture). There is Karma Yoga (selfless service), Bhakti Yoga (devotion and worship), Jnana Yoga (self-inquiry), Japa Yoga (using mantra/mala), and Raja Yoga (Yoga of the mind).

So if you volunteer, go to church, ask yourself who you truly are, use mantra in meditation or follow one of the 8 Limbs of Yoga, you are still doing your yogic duty. ;)

Remember to also keep an open mind...especially if this is your first time! :>

Until next time, stay strong, stay healthy, and fight dis-ease!
