When I'm on the NY subways, I don't hold onto anything as the train moves. I don't stand there like a cement block. As the train sways back and forth, so do I. If the train makes an abrupt stop, I can stop myself. There have been times where the train would make a turn and I would lean over and across, going in the same direction as the train. People have asked me if I'm a heroin addict (of course not!) or just ask me how I did that.

When I have a minor pain, sometimes I complain about it. Then 20 minutes later, I tell the person I complained to that the pain is gone. They are non-believers, so of course they're going to ask me how I did that.

I can also stop colds, flu and fever or slow them down. Right now, I have mucus built up in my throat. It started as a sore throat. Now I am coughing because the mucus is coming out of my system. It could have been worse....I could have had a bad chest or head cold but I don't. No headaches, no body aches. Nothing but this cough. How did I do that?

I did it through my breath.

These three examples I have given represent 3 of the various methods to better breathing that I will cover in future posts. Not only will I cover these methods, I will also cover how breathing better helps you with various forms of exercise such as running and walking.

The methods I will cover will vary in many ways and one of them I have learned from a particular religion/culture. No...I won't tell you what they are. Future posts, explaining everything, will be broken down in a manner that will be easy for you to understand and go back to when you forget or want to tell a friend.

As I type, a friend of mine just asked me why I don't get some cough medicine for that cough. No way! Coughing is a mechanism that is used for the body to heal itself. If I stop the cough, the mucus won't come out of me. I have to be healthy...I crave health. You should too. This doesn't mean that you should stop taking Robitussin if you have a hacking cough or one that is totally unbearable to yourself and others. Sure, take that Nyquil if that cough is stopping you from falling asleep. But my cough is like once an hour and every time I cough, something comes out that needs to come out. My awareness is my friend and protector against most dis-ease.

So until next time,
Stay strong,stay healthyand fight dis-ease!
