Greetings all!
Before I really get into the last post on posture, I wanted to thank you all again for visiting my blog. I realize that even though more than half of my visitors come from the good old USofA, I also get a good amount of international visitors. To you, I say "welcome" in your language (too bad I'm not multi-lingual).
I definitely want what I put on this blog to be universal, in the sense that ALL humans can benefit from it, not just those who need it the most (Americans LOL). However, the blessing (or curse, depending on the color of your glasses) of globalization means that sooner than later, people from other countries are going to have the same issues as Americans. I'm not going to sit here and say that McDonalds, KFC, and Taco Bell are the devil. High Fructose Corn Syrup is most definitely the devil but you choose whether you eat from these places or not.
Weekend 3 of class just finished on Sunday. The speaker, John Douillard, stressed that we should not only eat according to the season but according to your ancestry as well. This is important to keep in mind. Of course, we all love change and at times want to change things up...but don't over do it and completely abandon your native food for these things. I was talking to a friend in Trinidad once day and he explained to me how hard it is to get Ital and traditional Trini cooking in a store now. Everything is now KFC and Mickey D's. I was shocked, to say the least. I asked him how hard was it to find a mango tree or papaya tree over there. "Not hard...when you know someone who has it. Otherwise, you rarely find them anymore." WHAT?
Now this may not seem too crazy for you but for someone like me, who grew up in Barbados climbing mango and coconut trees, picking banana and papaya right off the tree to eat, it makes me want to cry. Especially since "organic" foods are on the rise. Where are you going to get organic food from if every place in the world has skyscrapers instead of trees? :(
OK...that's just a quick rant from me. Before the week is over, I will have the latest and last part of the posture series out. I have so much to do and so many ideas in my head that I need to sort them out. There isn't enough time in the day but one can always make time for important things.
And I think all of you are pretty important. I'm important too. LOL
Talk to you sooner than later.
