Blog Action Day - the 11th Hour

Hello All!

On this day, I'm going to take time out to speak about the effects of Global Warming. This is a direct correlation to health and your wellbeing because, simply put:

if there is "no earth" or the Earth as you know it is unsustainable for human life, how are you going to live period?

I haven't talked about this as yet but once you start on a path to health and wellness, the environment is going to play a huge role in the decisions that you make. What you eat, what utensils and appliances you use, your cleaning products - most things that you use to aid in human consumption has some kind of preservative, additive, or man made toxin that will damage your body in the long run. Taking care of the Earth is the only way to ensure that you eat organic food, you have clean and pure drinking water (for the most part), the air you breathe isn't toxic to your lungs, and you can appreciate a clear blue sky in a beautiful field of grass and flowers.

I commend Al Gore on his winning of the Nobel Peace Prize. He has done a lot of bring this crisis forward, to the mainstream, so that we all at least KNOW that there is a problem and acknowledge that - even if we choose to do nothing about that knowledge. I, however, would like to bring your attention to another film that also talks about the effects of Global Warming and what we can do to reverse the process. This film is called The 11th Hour, done by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Just like it's never too late to do something about your health, no matter how old you are, it's never too late to do something about Global Warming and taking care of the Earth. Did you know the Americans use more energy than most of the world combined? The carbon emissions created by Americans overshadow any amounts that most other countries create. There is so much we can do to fight global warming...even the littlest changes can make a difference.

Here is a clip from the movie "The 11th Hour". It's called "Concern for Life"

With huge regret, I must say that I have yet to see this movie. I just didn't have time to see it. However, as soon as it comes out on DVD, I will buy it quickly. I have visited the site on many occasions and have done many things to do my part to cut down on global warming (one thing to do that is very basic is to invest in a cloth bag to take your groceries in. take it with you to the supermarket and put all your belongings into it. The less plastic we use, the better. another thing to do is to invest in a stainless steel water container. This will also cut down on the amount of plastic that is flooding our oceans, since almost all plastic is NOT biodegradable).

Even though I have yet to see the 11th Hour (I did see most of Al Gore's movie), I ask all of you to take time out to visit the 11th Hour Action Site and learn how to make a change. This is especially for those who live in big cities, such as New York and Los Angeles, where it's so easy to create and spread pollution, smog and other carbon emissions. People in Florida, I ask you to do what you can to maintain what's left of the Everglades to provide that eco balance to your state. If we individually make an effort, we can collectively make a difference.

At the bottom of my blog is a link to Blog Action Day. I will make an effort to donate one day's work to whichever charity will do the most to combat Global Warming. I hope you make a difference too. There are too many natural disasters occurring for anyone to ignore this plight any longer.

Thanks.
